Advising - MAP Advising Program

Advising

One of the strongest connections you’ll make at Saint Mary’s School is your bond with your advisor and advisory group. All students meet with their advisors at least three days per week, building relationships with caring, attentive adults who provide guidance and support. Whether it’s simply to share a quick snack and see what the day will bring with your group,  or to get together individually to plot next year’s courses or to explore solutions to tough problems, the advisor-student meetings are just another example of how the SMS community surrounds you with supportive resources.

You’ll have a highly personalized academic advising program called MAP Advising (My Achievement Plan) that places you in a tight-knit group with a small number of other girls and an adult advisor who, side by side and face to face with you, charts your four-year academic and personal plan for success. Your MAP is a flexible plan that directs you and makes the most of your education.

Your electronic MAP portfolio includes

  • Your four-year academic plan and a record of your progress
  • Opportunities to document and assess your relationships and responsibilities, pathways to personal expression, leadership and community involvement, and avenues to explore your interests and passions
  • The benefit of easy access to this information and related college planning resources in the SMS Naviance site, a web-based program for you, your faculty advisor and your college counselor.
