Blanche Robertson Bacon and Honors Scholarship
The Blanche Robertson Bacon and Honors Scholarship, recognizes an incoming 9th or 10th grade boarding student from outside the Triangle area who demonstrates a strong academic foundation and a dedication to her community and rewards her with full tuition, room and board.
To be considered for this scholarship students must
- Exhibit leadership skills and outstanding character
- Demonstrate academic success and extracurricular involvement
- Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and be among the top 15% on a SMS approved national test
Capital Scholarship
The Capital Scholarship is awarded to an incoming 9th grade student from the Raleigh area who has demonstrated a genuine interest in fully integrating herself into the Saint Mary’s residential community. Recipients of this scholarship are encouraged to board their freshmen year and are required to board their sophomore, junior and senior year. This student receives a $5,000 scholarship in her freshmen year and a $15,000 scholarship in her sophomore, junior and senior year.
To be considered for this scholarship students must
- Demonstrate a strong desire to live and learn in a residential community
- Actively promote community among her peers
- Exhibit a strong moral and academic standing
Application/Nomination Process
for Merit Scholarships
All applicants who are interested in applying for a merit scholarship are required to complete the Merit Application. This application must be completed by the student and submitted to our office no later than January 15.
A personal recommendation is required for all merit applicants. This recommendation must be completed by someone outside the applicant's immediate family. We ask that the form be sent to our office directly from the person completing the recommendation no later than January 15.
Part 3: Attend January Overnight & Visitation Day | January 24-25
All merit applicants are required to attend our January Overnight and Visitation Day January 24-25. We ask that applicants call the Admission Office to confirm their attendance for this event.
Part 4: Admission Application | January 30
Students must have completed their admission application by the January 30 deadline in order to be considered for any merit scholoarship.
Applicants who are also interested in applying for need-based aid must be sure to meet the required need-based aid deadlines as well. Candidates will be notified of admission decisions, scholarship awards and any need-based aid amounts by mid-March.
