Saint Mary's School announces new leadership for the Athletic Department for 2012-13

Saint Mary’s School is pleased to announce that Mr. Dean Monroe will assume leadership of the Athletic Department beginning in the fall of 2012.
Mr. Monroe is a talented, experienced, fun-loving career educator and athletic administrator. He has spent the past 22 years at Cardinal Gibbons High School as athletic director, teacher and coach. He has overseen as many as 800 student athletes a year, 41 teams and a staff of dozens of talented coaches. His program earned the North Carolina Wachovia Cup 10 of the last 11 years. The Wachovia Cup is awarded to the high school with the most successful athletic program within each classification.
In addition to his role as Director of Athletics, Mr. Monroe will be supervising the athletic component to the SMS summer programs and also coaching the girls’ basketball team. His coaching experience includes over 400 varsity basketball career wins.
Mr. Monroe is a graduate of Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, with a BS in Secondary Education and minors in Health, Physical Education and Biblical Studies. He also earned a MA in Biblical Studies from Trinity Theological Seminary in Indiana. In addition, he is a NIAAA Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA).
Not new to the world of girls, Mr. Monroe and his wife, Kirsten, have four daughters: Lynnette (23), Emma (22), Charlee (12) and Weston (9). The family, along with their bulldog Pearl, will live in the townhouses on campus.
