Meet the SGA: Savannah Reynolds, Executive Vice President
Posted July 30, 2012
Before they skipped out for summer vacation, we took some time to get to know the newly elected members of the 2012-13 Student Government Association (SGA). Each week, we will introduce new members and share their thoughts on all things Saint Mary's. This week we feature Savannah Reynolds, from Greensboro, NC, who will serve as Executive Vice President.

YOUR SMS EXPERIENCE
What is your favorite SMS tradition?
My favorite SMS tradition is probably the iris giving at graduation. It is such a special tradition that is personal and precious to everyone.
What has been your favorite class in the last three years? Why?
Honors Physics has been my favorite class so far! I took it as a freshman and Dr. Greenwood's antics definitely make a lasting impression on someone who is not sure what to expect from a class with such a reputation. It was really a fun class!
What class has been the most challenging class thus far? How did you survive?
AP Calculus has definitely been my hardest class through my entire time at SMS. I survived by doing all the work assigned and working with others in class to understand the material.
Why did you come to SMS?
As soon as I heard of SMS in fifth grade when my sister attended, I wanted to come. When I visited, I fell even more in love with it!
What are you most looking forward to as a member of SGA?
I am really looking forward to getting to better know all the students and being able to impact the community. I am excited to see what changes we bring about.
What are you most looking forward to as a senior?
To enjoy all of the traditions for the last time as a student and senior privileges.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT YOU

I llike to shop at Cameron Village and Crabtree in Raleigh. But I do love to get bargains at TJ Maxx.
What is your favorite movie – new or old?
My favorite movie of all time is hands-down Dirty Dancing.
What is usually in your Hulu queue?
House, Castle, Office, Mad Men, Law and Order SVU
What song/album did you most recently purchase on iTunes?
Welcome to the Fish Bowl by Kenny Chesney
ADVICE TO NEW STUDENTS
What advice would you give to a new incoming student?
Don’t be afraid to really jump in and get involved. Boundaries and limitations are only there if you make them. Try out for a sport, run for an office, and make friends with boarders and day students.
What do you wish you had done sooner?
I wish I had taken advantage of tutorial time sooner. I thought seeing teachers after school would be unbearably awkward; however, I've learned that this time can be really useful and can really allow you to get to know a teacher and enjoy a class more.
