Vestry begins new year of service to school, Chapel, community

Posted September 14, 2012

The 2012-2013 vestry members received their official blessing during the annual vestry induction chapel, held September 7, in the historic Saint Mary’s Chapel. The vestry, as in all Episcopal parishes, is the lay leadership committee that works with the parish’s clergy on the temporal affairs of the parish.

At Saint Mary’s, the parish is our beloved Chapel; the clergy is our chaplain, the Rev. Ann Bonner-Stewart; and the vestry is the student leadership council that assists the chaplain in leading worship services and chapel programs and in caring for the Chapel. The vestry represents a time-honored student ministry and special leadership tradition at Saint Mary's.

This year's vestry has big plans for a variety of outreach projects, with a special focus on hunger relief efforts, both locally and globally, and efforts to help communities around the world in need acquire safe, clean drinking water through our support of Living Water International.

Congratulations and Godspeed, to this year’s vestry members, as they carry out their mission of leadership and service.
