Ami Cammarota honored as member of team of distinction

A close-knit community that enjoys celebrating the accomplishments of its members, Saint Mary's School is pleased to announce that Director of Residential Life, Ami Cammarota, was among the honorees as The William Smith College Heron Society of Hobart and William Smith Colleges welcomed its eighth class of inductees into the Heron Hall of Honor on Saturday, Sept. 22.
The 1997 William Smith field hockey team posted a 20-2 record and won the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA) championship with an unblemished 6-0 record before marching to the NCAA Division III national title. The team was recognized as a team of distinction at the 2012 Hall of Honor Ceremony, and team members were honored during the ceremony.
Prior to being promoted to the full-time position as Saint Mary’s School’s director of residential life in 2012, Ms. Cammarota served as field hockey coach for SMS and residential faculty member.
Founded in 1983 to celebrate the many student-athletes and coaches who bring increased recognition to William Smith College for their individual and team accomplishments, the Heron Society works to support the entire athletics program with financial assistance, to increase visibility for William Smith athletics, and to promote camaraderie among William Smith alumnae, parents and friends.
Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of Title IX, the 2012 Hall of Honor inductions served as the capstone event of a semester long celebration at the colleges of the groundbreaking, gender equity legislation.
