SMS Board of Trustees at work

Posted October 19, 2012

On Wednesday and Thursday, October 17 and 18, members of Saint Mary’s Board of Trustees were on campus for two days of committee and full board meetings. The Board is comprised of 25 members, each bringing unique expertise, insight and experience to their role as trustee.

Under the leadership of Chair William G. Taylor, the Board spent many hours doing the good and important work necessary to support the school and ensure its place as one of the country’s leading boarding and day schools for girls.

As in all independent schools, the Board at Saint Mary’s is responsible for the financial health and sustainability of the school. It is also charged with ensuring that the school’s programs and activities continue in alignment with the school’s mission and core values.

This week’s meetings were charged by the energy of the installation of Dr. Monica Gillespie as the 13th head of Saint Mary’s School on Tuesday, October 16. The Board celebrated this new leadership and welcomed several new members to its ranks.

All in all, this first session of the 2012-2013 Board of Trustees was a productive one and an exciting start to a new chapter in Saint Mary’s history.
