Family Weekend 2018
Communications Office

Saint Mary's School invites current parents to Family Weekend 2018, October 5-6. Family Weekend is an opportunity for parents to learn more about their daughter's school life, while enjoying the fellowship of the school community. Students will give parents and families an up-close and personal glimpse into their Saint Mary's experience. Parents will learn how to win the game of social media with The Social Institute, cheer for our Saints during exciting home games, and enjoy good food at lunch, at our great Saint Mary's tailgate party on Friday evening, and the Saturday pancake breakfast.

Registration

Parents will register for Family Weekend, Friday, Oct. 5, 10:30-11 a.m. at Smedes Hall.

College Counseling for parents of seniors

Saint Mary's college counselors will meet individually with parents of seniors, Friday, Oct. 5, from 8-10:30 a.m. Parents should contact their daughter's college counselor to schedule an appointment.

The Social Institute Session

Saint Mary's School has partnered with The Social Institute to educate our students to the positive power of social media and how they can "win at the game of social media." As part of that partnership, The Social Institute will lead a parent "pump-up" session on Friday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., as part of Family Weekend. Led by the Social Institute founder, Laura Tierney, this session will introduce you to The Social Locker Room, an online resource available to Saint Mary's parents through our partnership with The Social Institute, and she will provide parents with login instructions for easy access. In addition, she will share the results of the Saint Mary's parent survey to give parents greater insight into the impact of social media in your life and the lives of your children.

Lunch and Friday afternoon sessions

Lunch will be served in the Dining Hall in Chan-Poyner Hall from noon until 1 p.m. Parents will meet with their daughter's advisory group for a casual get-acquainted session from 1-1:30 p.m. Parents will journey with their daughters for a learning walk, during which parents will visit each of her classes and learn from her what goals she has set for herself, the process she is using to achieve those goals, and key insights she has gained about herself and her learning.
