Blanche Robertson Bacon and Honors Scholarship
The Blanche Robertson Bacon and Honors Scholarship recognizes an incoming 9th or 10th grade boarding student from outside the Triangle area who demonstrates a strong academic foundation and a dedication to her community and rewards her with full tuition, room and board.
To be considered for this scholarship students must
- Exhibit leadership skills and outstanding character
- Demonstrate academic success and extracurricular involvement
- Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and be among the top 15% on a SMS approved national test
Application Process and Deadlines
Part 1: Merit Application and Admission Application | December 6
All applicants who are interested in applying for the Blanche scholarship are required to complete the merit application. This application must be completed by the student and submitted to our office no later than December 6. A completed application is also required by December 6 in order to be eligible for this scholarship.
Part 2: Personal Recommendation | December 6
A personal recommendation is required for all merit applicants. This recommendation must be completed by someone outside of the applicant's immediate family who knows the student well (e.g. advisor, coach, priest). One additional letter of recommendation will be accepted but is not required.
Part 3: Interview
Selected Blanche applicants will be invited for an on campus group interview with the scholarship committee.
