Named for Margaret Cruikshank, Saint Mary's seventh president and an alumna, Cruikshank Hall is a three-story residence hall housing up to 74 students, with five residential faculty apartments and a student lounge on each floor providing places for girls to study, watch TV, and gather as a residential community.
Penick Hall is a three-story residence building which houses up to 42 students, with three residential faculty apartments. Penick Hall also has student lounges providing places for girls to study, watch TV, and gather as a residential community.
This historic building, built in 1837, was recently renovated and provides housing for up to 60 students, with five residential faculty apartments and four student lounges. The Long Student Center in Lower Smedes includes several student lounges, a kitchen area, a game room with ping pong and pool tables, the activity desk and mailroom, Aldert's Corner snack shop, and the school store, shop1842. The first floor of Smedes Hall features beautiful Smedes-Emory Parlor and cozy Williams Parlor, where students love to study by the fireplace, as well as administration offices.
For boarding students, Saint Mary’s is not only a school, it is home.
When you live on campus, you take increasing responsibility for your personal, academic and ethical development under the nurturing guidance of the many faculty and staff members who also reside on campus. These dedicated adults supervise our residence halls and weekend activities. They become extended family, opening their doors and welcoming you into their families and their lives on campus.
