Saint Mary’s Development and Alumnae Office exists to engage, connect, and build our relationships with alumnae through special events, communications, volunteerism, and more. We have nearly 10,000 alumnae living in all 50 states and abroad. The spirit of Christmas was in abundance Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at the annual festival of lessons and carols (in Pittman Auditorium this year) and the 41st annual Lighting O' the Grove! Lessons; carols sung by the Chorale; music by the Chorale, Ladies in Blue, The Echo, and all in attendance; the lighting of the tree; memorial luminary dedications; and more than 500 luminaries lighting the circle drive in the Grove! The Beacon Christmas party was also held for students in Smedes-Emory Parlor with more music from The Echo and a reading of The Polar Express by Santa Claus. A joyful Saint Mary's time was had by all. Merry Christmas, to all!

Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh, North Carolina, announced Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, at a Saint Mary’s Forever campaign event on the school’s campus, that the school will receive a gift of $7 million this fall from Henry and Tracey Fodor Smith of Farmville and Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the largest single gift to the school in Saint Mary’s 180-year history. The donation is the lead gift to help fund the construction of a new academic science building on the school’s historic campus.
