Safety & Wellness
Saint Mary's School strives to maintain the highest standards of safety, ensuring that every member of our community feels safe and supported.
Security
Security guards are on duty 24/7 and check all parts of campus regularly throughout the day and night. Saint Mary’s has access-controlled systems installed throughout campus including security gates at every school access point and door codes for every entrance to academic buildings and residence halls.
When students leave campus for non-Saint Mary’s School activities or other "around the town" permissions, they are required to initiate a REACH request that their parents approve. Students then sign out face-to-face with an adult at the ATP Desk for REACH authorization. Students must check in at the same location when they return and at designated times during the day and evening. This process ensures a partnership with the family for their child’s safety.
Wellness
Saint Mary’s is dedicated to supporting the wellness of every student by providing compassionate, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate programs addressing the social and emotional needs of all students ranging from 9th-12th grade.
We believe optimal physical and emotional health is crucial to helping young women do their best in the classroom, onstage or on the playing field. With two resident nurses, a supervising physician, residential school counselors, 24/7 triage service, CPR certified faculty, an athletic trainer, Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) on campus, and Duke and UNC Health Systems nearby, we are committed to keeping our students safe and healthy.
