Lisa Yount, Director

Saint Mary's Dance Program

Ms. Yount is proud to see the Saint Mary's Dance Program enter its twenty-first year under her direction. She holds a B.F.A. in Dance from the N.C. School of the Arts and an M.A. from American University in Washington, D.C. She has national and international performing experience, performing as a solo dance artist, as well as with many modern dance companies, including Lesa McLaughlin and Dancers and Even Exchange Dance Theater. Ms. Yount has held academic appointments at The College of William and Mary, U.N.C. at Chapel Hill, Montgomery College, The Washington School of Ballet, Peabody Institute, American University, Cary Ballet Conservatory, Arts Together, Raleigh School of Ballet and Carolina Ballet’s Summer Intensive. Performances of Ms. Yount's choreography have been presented at The Kennedy Center, Dance Place in Washington, D.C., Maryland’s Publick Playhouse, Carolina Theater, U.N.C. at Chapel Hill, William and Mary and American University. Her 32 years of teaching experience include instructing all levels of ballet and modern dance in academic and private settings, training beginners to professionals. In addition to teaching, choreographing and performing, Ms. Yount is the proud mother of Cameron McCune and Emma Rose McCune, and wife of musician/pathologist Bryan McCune.
