Welcome to the 80th Anniversary Orchesis Dance Theatre Concert
Rim Metina-Belknap '19

I am so excited to welcome you to the 80th Anniversary Orchesis Dance Theatre Concert being performed on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. Our Saturday performance includes a one-of-a-kind celebratory reunion piece featuring not only current Orchesis Dance Theatre members but Orchesis Dance Theatre alumnae as well!

We have 14 dancers who are currently members of the Orchesis Dance Theatre company. I would like to recognize as first-time Orchesis members Cokie Daniel '22, Rebekah Elam '22, Riley English '21, Chloe Lias '22, and Sims Roberson '21.

We are extremely excited about Orchesis Dance Theatre alumnae joining us in concert! Orchesis alumnae have helped build and transform Orchesis over the years and continue to support the company. We are truly thankful for and indebted to you for your constant support. Thank you!

This concert features several styles of dance thanks to Kirstie Spadie, who has been teaching as a guest artist at Saint Mary's School for many years. This year, girls from all grades and dance backgrounds were able to take part in her jazz class, and Orchesis members had the pleasure of learning her choreography and performing it on stage. Our school is so lucky to have artists, especially Ms. Spadie, share their talents with us. This concert also features past pieces of choreography by dance faculty that have proved to be fan favorites.

I have been part of Orchesis for four years now. I have loved every piece and concert in which I have performed because of the unique styles and emotions they reflect. This concert is very special to me. Because I have grown up on the Saint Mary's campus, I have watched many alumnae dance and bring their own personality to the concerts and to Orchesis. I am amazed by each and every Orchesis alum and their contribution to Orchesis. We are so lucky to have such a supportive community who shares this passion with us.

Orchesis members have been working hard since August to prepare this concert and we are so excited to share it with you. We hope you will enjoy the pieces and choreography, and that you will leave this concert thinking about something new and share those thoughts with others. Every piece translates something incredible. Our 1938 founder Jane Goss would have been proud of what Orchesis has become and what the members bring to Saint Mary's School.

Thank you for your support. We cannot wait to share this amazing experience with you and celebrate what you have helped build over the years.

Sincerely,

Rim Metina-Belknap '19, President
