Music

Saint Mary’s School’s music program offers a wide variety of expert instrumental and vocal instruction by dedicated teachers. You may take private lessons in voice, piano, guitar, flute, clarinet, violin, viola and cello. Other instrumental instruction is available upon request. Students sing in Chorale and perform in a variety of chamber instrumental ensembles. Our acoustically superb performance venue, Smedes-Emory  Parlor, has been a cultural focal point for North Carolina since the 1840s. You may be one of the budding virtuosos to perform in a student recital or professional concert in this beautiful, historic room.

Spoleto Study Abroad
Saint Mary’s participates in the consortium of independent schools that sends students to the Spoleto Study Abroad Summer Program in renowned Spoleto, Italy. This educational journey features a rich and varied curriculum in the arts. Excursions to medieval hill towns of Central Italy and to cultural centers such as Florence, Assisi, Tivoli and Siena offer students a chance to experience significant artistic and historical masterpieces firsthand.
