Orchesis Fall 2019

I am thrilled to invite you to Orchesis Dance Theatre’s Fall 2019 Concert. This concert showcases our company of amazing and talented dancers. We have 19 members currently performing with Orchesis Dance Theatre. We have been so fortunate to welcome eight incredible new dancers into the company this fall.

A huge thank you to our new members: Lucy Brimberry ’23, Lucy Harris ’23, Bailey Krepps ’23, Arden Lee ’21, Ainsley Parkerson ’22, Lily Peterson ’21, Sarah Stockton ’22, and Katie Woodward ’22. And of course, to my fellow seniors, J’Lah Johnson, Ashley White, and Kate Eagles, thank you for your dancing and your profound dedication to the company.

We are very excited to be performing choreography by guest artists, Saint Mary’s dance faculty and Orchesis members as part of this concert. This fall, Orchesis had the privilege of working with guest artist Valonda Calloway, who created jazz choreography for us. We have had the best time learning her fun choreography and we are sure it will get the audience dancing in their seats. I also want to give a big thank you to Natalie Morton who choreographed my wonderful solo. We are so thankful to have such talented artists work with our company.

Orchesis Fall 2019 Soloist

It is my fourth and final year with Orchesis Dance Theatre. I could not be more grateful for everything this company has given to me. I have made the best of friends and had the most rewarding experiences dancing alongside so many talented artists. What makes Orchesis so special is that every dancer comes into the company with a different perspective, a different dance background, and a multitude of things to contribute. We are such a strong company this year and I have loved getting to know these girls. I am so proud of what this group has accomplished thus far and hope you will enjoy the performance as much as we do.

Thank you to everyone who has helped put this concert together including our remarkable instructors, Lisa Yount and Michelle Pearson. I will never know how the two of them do it, but we are so thankful for the positive impact they have on us as both dancers and people.

Orchesis dancers have worked tirelessly since August for this concert and it truly means the world to us to have you in the audience. Without you, there wouldn’t be anyone to dance for. Thank you for your support of Orchesis Dance Theatre, your presence is greatly appreciated. Enjoy the performance and join us in Smedes-Emory Parlor following Friday’s performance for a reception hosted by our Saint Mary’s Visual and Performing Arts parent volunteers.
